Dr. April was raised in Colfax, a small town in central Illinois. From the age of 5, she had a strong desire to become a veterinarian. In high school she worked as a kennel attendant at a veterinary practice in Bloomington-Normal and then she worked as a veterinary assistant at Town and Country Animal Hospital, also in Bloomington-Normal. She pursued her undergraduate studies in St. Peter, Minnesota at Gustavus Adolphus College where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Music. She then attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2000 with her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She was in mixed animal practice in Hilbert, Wisconsin for approximately one year. After that she married Dr. John and moved to Sesser. Dr. April and Dr. John have been married since June, 30 2001 and have been in practice together with Dr. Charles since that time. They have 2 children, Emma and Wade.
